Learning to make a change in life, no matter how small, has unbelievable ripple effects in every aspect of our lives. Hypnotherapy is a safe way of bypassing our conscious mind (that's the one that has all the tapes running....the thought patterns that hold us back) and talk directly to the subconscious mind. In a state of deep relaxation, our mind will accept suggestions without question - that's where the change happens! The hypnotic state is completely safe, as the client is at all times fully aware of what is going on around him and what is being said and done during the session. The client is also free to stop at any time should anything not feel comfortable for him or her anymore.
Hypnosis itself is a state of trance, as previously discussed. But there are different ways of inducing hypnosis (called an induction) and different tools to use when the person is in trance, to accomplish the goal of the session.
